Defending Jacob (Meriah’s Pick)
Discussion:
Meriah- Really liked it! Liked how it was written from the father’s point of view. Ending was crazy. Would recommend. 4/5
Ali- Really really glad I finished!!Most I’ve read in a day since collage, 250pgs. Liked how the case was built. Liked the two parent’s points of view. Hard to predict. Would recommend. 4/5
Jocelyn- Loved it!! Loved that it was written from the dad’s point of view. Loved all the law stuff and the writing style. The back and forth between past and present. Would definitely recommend. 4/5
Julie- Really enjoyed. Could be a miniseries or movie. Thought the book could have ended in Jamaica. Didn’t want to believe he did it, looking for the happy ending always. Roller coaster of a book. Would recommend. 4/5

The Girls (Julie’s Pick)
Discussion:
Julie- Really liked. Loved the language and descriptions. Already recommended. 4/5
Meriah- Really liked it too. Painted such great pictures. Definitely will recommend. 4/5
Ali- Really liked it. Related too much of it. Already recommended. 4/5
Jocelyn- Loved it!! Related to so much with the main character. Many similar life experiences, minus hanging with a cult. Would recommend. 4.5/5
Maren- Felt conflicted. Loved the description of the 60’s, but freaked because I have a daughter. Would not recommend. 3/5
Overall Success!!! Starting a new year, we all shall aim to read all 12 books this year!!!

She survived, but maybe a sign that a new car is coming my way. Ali- Has a roommate. Jake’s friend Jason has moved in. Great cleaner and respectful. Maren- All my babies are growing up and moving on at 1, 3 and 5. We loved our family trip to Disneyland.

September 25, 2016 Book Club Notes

Whistling Past the Graveyard (Maron’s Pick)

Discussion:
Jocelyn- Enjoyed the southern language. The story felt slow moving most of the time. Liked that it was told through Starla’s point of view and liked that the dad found his way. A true story of morels. Might recommend. 3.5/5

Meriah- Really liked it!! Liked how everything came together and really liked the end. Already recommended. 4/5

Ali- Really liked. Reminded you of the points of view people take. Loved how the South talked. Liked the end. Would recommend. 4/5

Julie- Book was well written. Really liked it. Liked the civil rights time told through a child’s point of view. Loved it!! Would recommend. 5/5

Maren- Liked it. Some slow parts, but overall good. Would recommend. 4/5

Favorite Characters:

August 28, 2016 Book Club Notes

Younger by Susan Munshower (Ali’s Pick)

Discussion: Ali- Liked the book. It was like a female Jason Borne. Kept me alert. Interesting way to go about the vanity topic. Already have recommended. 5/5
Julie- Entertaining although not a good book. Junk food. Interesting read for the topic. It was filled with lots of extra pieces. Liked the love story, kept waiting for a twist there. Would not recommend. 3/5
Maren- A good one. Fast pace with not too much description. The David part was nice but unbelievable. Noticed all the food talk. Would not recommend. 4/5
Jocelyn- Entertaining fast read. Vanity not really my thing, so enjoyed the ending filled with espionage the best. Liked that it took place in Europe for all the great words used. Not sure if I’d recommend. 3/5
Meriah- Liked the book. Creepy because it made me internalize myself ageing. Seemed like it was written to be a movie. Annoyed with traveling descriptions, but liked the David love story ending. Would not recommend. 3.5/5
