Assignment for May 22nd Meeting

Ok ladies,
Since we will never catch up in meetings we will be doing a Two for One on May 22nd. The meeting is at Tristana's house on Sunday May 22nd at 4pm.

Your new assignment (you can put down a Simple Plan if you like since it's not due until may 22nd) is:
Pick a Poem that you will read to the group, have your analysis of the poem ready, then each person will give their take. You may also pick a short story or prose; it must be short enough to read out loud to the group.

This assignment will be our April Meeting make up.

Then we will commence A Simple Plan discussion.

Good luck all, I am interested to see what we all pick for our poems/short story.

Stephanie Plum novels

I just finished One For The Money and it was great! I'm so excited to start the next. Maren- Did you know there are a total of 8 books? Wow! I'm hooked! I love this character and the story line is great. Any one want the first book?

What to Read?

Okay so I'm the next person to choose a book and I'm torn between Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith by Jon Krakauer, and Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. Both stories are non-fiction. Under the Banner of Heaven is about a double murder two fundamentalist Mormon brothers committed in the name of God. Blink is about how within the first 2 seconds of meeting someone or walking into a strange house our mind has already made a decision, and it's this decision that protects us from danger. I downloaded the first chapter from both books and both sounded really good, what do you guys think?

Ok we left off nixing April dates as it is either inconvenient or on easter or a bday. Can we meet sunday May 15th??? Or if someone can pick a Monday I believe Julie is off and maren is off those days. Let me know.

KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL by Anthony Bordain

Book was not widely liked. Ali & Maren were the only ones who read the whole thing. It was good in content but droned on and on. Decriptions taking up multiple pages to basically say a one sentence thing. Sad that it is too wordy. The first three-four chapters are good but then once in New York the stories are more description then story. Almost as if he is trying to glam up some things. SCMBOOK Club Rating: D-
