Discussion:
Ali- It tripped me out. My brother is this era, thinking this is how my bro grew up. He was not really a crazy guy to begin with. I had thought he was more druggy crazy before reading this. I related with my childhood friends. Already have recommended. 4/5
Maren- Liked the growing up part, but High School dragged for me. I liked all the different places he talked about. Unbelievable they never got caught. Would recommend to certain people. 3/5
Julie- Always thought Flea was off and a wierdo. This book educated me that he was just insecure. It was an easy read. I liked the way he wrote although it started to drag with the all the lists of people and bands. Would not recommend. 2.5/5
Jocelyn- Overall the book was eh. His ever so enlightening drug trips got old. Liked the first quarter of the book when he was little and then it got old. He does have an incredible memory and liked that he was an avid reader and grew up in the world of jazz. Would never recommend 2/5

Meriah- Thought it was alright. I didn’t really want to pick it up most of the time. Overall it was just err. Would not recommend. 3/5
Julie- Hated it! Boring! Hope it makes a better movie then a book. Would never recommend! 2/5
Jocelyn- I absolutely hated it. The pace was so slow. I do feel like the author was trying to make it seem like a Hitchcock movie. Could have been cool but wasn’t. Would not recommend. 1.5/5
Maren- I loved it! I related to the book with this COVID lockdown. Quick read, really fun. Would recommend for a beach read. 4/5
Ali- Hated it. Stupidest book ever. Girl on the Train all over again. Felt I had to read it just to get it over with. Don’t care to see the movie. Would not recommend. 2/5

February 16, 2020 The Great Alone (Julie’s Pick) Meeting Minutes

Discussion:
Julie- Absolutely loved it! I just love this author. The way she writes, I feel like I’m there. I liked the time period too. Would recommend. 4.5/5
Meriah- Loved it! Finished too early, couldn’t put it down. Great descriptions. Would recommend. 4.7/5
Jocelyn- Overall I enjoyed the book. Loved the descriptions of Alaska and the rugged lifestyle. Such a great time period. I did find it way too predictable. Would recommend. 3.5/5
Ali- Liked the book overall. The end scenes went way too fast. Once Ernt went down it became too predictable. Just didn’t like the end. Already have recommended. 4/5
Maren- I read it got bad reviews so I was hoping I didn’t hate it. I really really liked it! I did feel like- Come on Cora. I just don’t understand why women can’t leave. Would recommend. 4.5/5

Maren- I picked this book because it got good reviews. Liked the beginning. Then it turned into, let’s just have conversations for the whole book. It was a fast read. Would never recommend. 3/5
Jocelyn- This book was horrible. Nothing ever happens in this story that you didn’t know was going to happen. Felt like a trashy airport kiosk book. Would never recommend. 0/5
Ali- Hated the book! Wanted to wash my mind of it. I might need to read a self-help book now. Would never recommend. 0/5
Julie- Nothing happens the whole time! No sex at all! Basically, a flat liner book, no climax.
Meriah- Could have had more potential. Junk food read. It was stagnant, which started to drive me crazy. Would not recommend. 2/5
