February 26, 2017 Book Club Notes - Revival by Stephen King (Maren’s Pick)

Discussion:
Julie- Stephen King has run out of ideas. Did NOT like. Felt like a repeat story. Would never recommend ever. 1/5
Jocelyn- Found it very boring. Still had Stephen King’s cool writing style with good phrases. Wanted more creep. Would never recommend. 1/5
Ali- HATED IT!!! Feeling very disappointed in Stephen King. Repeat from many past books. BORED. Would never recommend. 1/5
Maren- I liked it. Quick read. Liked that it was a short Stephen King book. Liked the alchemy aspect. Would not recommend. 3/5
Meriah-Not a fan. Like his writing style, but the end was the same as always. Would not recommend. 2/5

Discussion:
Julie- Thought it was ok. Entertaining. Would not recommend, unless on vacation. 3/5
Ali- Found it alluring. Liked it, entertained. Would not recommend. 3/5
Meriah- Not bad. Didn’t like the repeating of information. Would not recommend. 3/5
Maren- Liked. Consider it a beach read. The love story annoyed me. 3/5
Jocelyn- Considered it junk food. Thought it would be more about her adventure outside. Dragged a lot. Would not recommend. 2.5/5

January 1, 2017 Book Club Minutes: Beauty Queens (Jocelyn’s Pick)

Discussion:
Meriah- Really funny, liked the survival aspect. Kept rolling the whole time. Loved the characters. Already recommended. 3/5
Ali- Liked the book, love island survival stuff. Liked how the girls developed their survival skills. Liked the ending. Really glad I finished. Already recommended. 3/5
Maren- In the beginning I didn’t like. Irritated by the commercial breaks. Overall I liked in the end. Reminded me of shows I watch. 3.5/5
Jocelyn- Laughed a lot more than I expected, very entertaining. Loved the commercial breaks and the look into the future at the end. Would recommend to certain people. 3.5/5
Julie-Very entertaining. Laughed out loud at the absurdities. Would recommend to certain people for junk food. 3.5/5

Defending Jacob (Meriah’s Pick)
Discussion:
Meriah- Really liked it! Liked how it was written from the father’s point of view. Ending was crazy. Would recommend. 4/5
Ali- Really really glad I finished!!Most I’ve read in a day since collage, 250pgs. Liked how the case was built. Liked the two parent’s points of view. Hard to predict. Would recommend. 4/5
Jocelyn- Loved it!! Loved that it was written from the dad’s point of view. Loved all the law stuff and the writing style. The back and forth between past and present. Would definitely recommend. 4/5
Julie- Really enjoyed. Could be a miniseries or movie. Thought the book could have ended in Jamaica. Didn’t want to believe he did it, looking for the happy ending always. Roller coaster of a book. Would recommend. 4/5
