Discussion:
Jocelyn- It was well written. Crazy and scary to know people are still being raised in families like this. Thanks to the teachers of the world who push us to find ourselves. Would recommend to certain people. 3.5/5
Maren- Weird that parents don’t know how old she is. The mom was nuts. Would recommend to certain people. 3/5
Julie- Did not like it. Intriging but too wordy at times. How much of this is even true? Would not recommend. 2.5/5
Ali- Intrigued and maddened at the same time. Would I leave? Think I would! Writing well done. A little jumpy between present and past. Would recommend. 4/5
Meriah- (absent) Loved it. 4/5

February 25, 2018 - The Letter (Meriah’s Pick) Meeting Minutes

Discussion:
Meriah - Loved it! It kept my attention. Loved the back and forth between the two stories. Feel like I’m really learning my British now. Like how she writes. Recommended already. 4/5
Julie - Frustrated that facts were given away too quickly. Just okay. Already recommended. 3.5/5
Jocelyn – This was a fast-paced read. I liked the jumping back and forth between stories. I preferred the Billy story overall. Felt like it was somewhat predictable at times. 3/5
Ali - Liked it overall. Hated Tina’s character. I finally guessed a true prediction!! Loved the Irish crew. Intrigued the whole time. Already recommended. 4/5
Maren - I was disappointed. Didn’t really like the characters. I hate cheesy love stories. Would not recommend. 2.5/5

January 28, 2018: I am Watching You (Julie’s Pick)

Discussion:
Julie- Felt like I’ve been in a lull. This book brought me back a bit. Enjoyed it. Kept me guessing. Have already recommended. 4/5
Meriah- The book was eh for me. Just didn’t care for it. Couldn’t connect with it. Wanted a better ending. Too much description. Would not recommend. 3/5
Maren- Really liked it. Was going to take a pie to the face, but ended up intrigued. Couldn’t figure out who did it the whole time. 4.5/5
Ali- Liked it. Thrilling, on the edge of my seat. Needed to know. Couldn’t guess. Liked that every chapter ended with a spin. Would recommend. 4/5
Jocelyn- Enjoyed the book. Easy read. Loved that the point of view jumped every chapter, driving you crazy with the need to know what was going to happen next. Loved the British lingo. Would recommend. 3.5/5

DECEMBER CLUB: January 7, 2018 Book Club Notes

Before We Were Yours (Maren’s Pick)
Discussion:
Julie- Hated the love story. Hated the Avery political crap. Liked the kids story. Details made me sick to my stomach, so hard to read. Would recommend to certain people. 3/5
Maren- Hated the book till the end. Too much horrible things happening to the kids. Hated Avery’s political and love story. It did keep my interest though. Would recommend. 3.5/5
Meriah- Liked book. Found it somewhat confusing. What would life have been like if they had stayed on the boat? Felt bad for Queenie. Would recommend. 3.5/5
Ali- Intense. Liked it. Needed to know answers. Cried twice while reading. A little bored with Avery’s politics, but liked her sleuthing. Already recommended. 4/5
Jocelyn- Enjoyed the book. Loved the descriptions of the area and the times. Found the Avery tale a little annoying. Loved Rill’s story. A disturbing tale about the cruel nature of humans. Would have enjoyed as non-fiction too. Would recommend. 4/5
