I agree. I am half way through and put it down to read something that inspired me so I could finish it. I'm gonna read at lunches this week and hope to be done.
ReplyDeleteI like anthony and because I watch his show I can hear him narrating the book. Though the worldly cuisine is facinating to me it does drag in description. Those of us who know not what these french and foreign language plates are can't grasp WTF he's talking about. I have to picture something gormet I like in it's place.
You can do it. Just note all the things & points that bored you or impacted negatively and those can be your topics.
I liked the beginig but it's what we deal with everyday so it's kinda boring
ReplyDeleteYeah I get it and I read Waiter's rant which was similar. I had to read a simple book in bewteen to keep me motivated. It was short & sweet and food oriented so not like a "Little Stranger" flop. LOL
ReplyDeleteI can't get into it at all. I'm not even halfway through yet. I tried watching an episode of his show and couldn't get through the whole episode, so maybe I just don't like him as a narrator.
ReplyDeleteWell do the best you can and be prepared to discuss what irritates you the most about him.
ReplyDeleteI am still only half way. Been reading other stuff and getting ready for some classes. See you sunday.
Ok a fellow reader gave me this advice about slow books that don't suck you in; and I like this advice:
ReplyDeleteI have taken one of my old teachers' advice, and, when I come to a tough place, I start skipping through. Sometimes I go back and catch up, but more often I just keep skipping ahead. Life is too short! I enjoy reading too much -- it's my 'down/alone' time, in a way. So, if it's not quality, then it projects in other areas of my life in frustration.
I thought'd I'd share her logic as I think I like it. We can skim the parts that are dry.
