September 25, 2016 Book Club Notes


Whistling Past the Graveyard (Maron’s Pick)

Discussion:
Jocelyn- Enjoyed the southern language. The story felt slow moving most of the time. Liked that it was told through Starla’s point of view and liked that the dad found his way. A true story of morels. Might recommend. 3.5/5

Meriah- Really liked it!! Liked how everything came together and really liked the end. Already recommended. 4/5

Ali- Really liked. Reminded you of the points of view people take. Loved how the South talked. Liked the end. Would recommend. 4/5

Julie- Book was well written. Really liked it. Liked the civil rights time told through a child’s point of view. Loved it!! Would recommend. 5/5

Maren- Liked it. Some slow parts, but overall good. Would recommend. 4/5

Favorite Characters:
Jocelyn- Porter/Daddy and Cyrena Jones Meriah- Eula Ali- Porter Julie- Starla and Daddy Maren- Starla

$$$- Balance…??? Ali and Julie paid last month. Maren paid the $20 due. Jocelyn will owe $30 next club. Meriah? Next book club is Oct. 18th 5:00 at Julie’s House…..This is a Tuesday.

Anniversary Celebration is Friday Oct 21st. Meeting in Safeway parking lot at 5:00pm.

Duties: Julie-main, Maren- glasses/salad, Ali- app/side, Jocelyn- dessert, Meriah- drinks.

Dinner: Beef Taco Bar, Tres Leche Cake and Trailer Park Punch.
Announcements: Jocelyn- Got another new job. Meriah- No new news. Ali- Engagement party DONE! Julie- Mason is Lana’s big buddy  I’m very much in love right now. Maren- No new news.
Old/New Business: Julie passed our logo art on to Ali. Ali made us Stickers. YAY!!!! Meriah is going to try and add our tank top/shirt orders into her Cowboy order with Catto’s. Ali send Meriah a reminder text.
