Next book club is Aug. 30th – Hosted by Ali at Meriah’s new house. Pool Party!!!! This will be Meriah’s birthday club.
Book is A Thousand Splendid Sons by Khaled Hosseini 432 pgs.
Next book pick is Tristana, possibly Fight club by Chuck Palahniuk 224 pgs.
Next date proposed is Sept. 20th.
Book Pick Order – Ali, Tristana, Maren, Julie, Meriah, Jocelyn
Duties: Ali- Main, Tristana- Drinks, Maren- Salad, Julie- Side, Meriah- Dessert, Joe- Glasses /App
Dinner: Zucchini turkey/chorizo tacos, Cheese/dip platter, Beet salad, Homemade tomatillo salsa, Greek fro yo with mini peanut butter cups, sliced strawberries and whipped cream.
Announcements: Ali- House warming party on Aug.15th Jocelyn- Cy’s play running July 29-Aug 2nd Tickets at LPRT.org
Tristana- Birthday BBQ at her house Aug4th. Kitty was hit by a car, but lives on Maren- Pool time baby shower is Aug 22nd at 2:00. Need to think of pool games. Julie- Had a great trip in Maui, got a new tattoo. Feeling really happy with new boyfriend Chris. Hosting a Damsel’s in Defense party on Set 13th, 4:00 at Bailey Property Management building in SV.
Meriah- Moving to Bonny Doon. Birthday is Sept 1st, maybe a pool party.
Other Items: Punishment for not reading the book is there will be no recap from now on!

Discussion: Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel (Joe’s pick) Tristana and Maren didn’t finish ……No Recap Ali: Enjoyed book. Liked the spider web life of the actor. 4/5 Jocelyn: Really liked for a post apocalyptic book. Liked the jumping from past to present. Loved that there was a tattoo artist even after all that befell mankind!! 3.5/5 Julie: Thought the author had beautiful details and loved the way it was written. Loved that Clark started the museum. 4/5 Meriah: Enjoyed book. Really liked the Symphony. Could have used some more prophet action. 3.5/5

Maren & Tristana please answer
Hello ladies,
In the last Meeting Minutes a couple questions were to be clarified.
1) Maren's Babyshower at Highlands..... First of all Maren we love you and you can have as many kids as you want and we will still want to celebrate with a babyshower. So get that whole I already had a boy babyshower business out of your head. Secondly, if you dont want the formal babyshower as you had originally planned then maybe we can do a special SCMbookclub only babyshower. Maybe we can do it at your house and do a pool theme, have BBQ and food and stuff maybe play a cheesy game or pool game or something. So I have the 22nd blocked off- I say let's celebrate!!!!! Let us know how and where my lovely!!!
2) Tristana's Birthday party. Please confirm the date of your bday party so we can lock it in. So far we have noted Friday August 14th. Where and what time sister!!!!!!
3) Tristana: You are the next book pick after me. Start thinking of a book so when we have July club we can get the thought process going.
PS: Station 11 is really good!!!!! Start reading club is next week!!!!!!

Discussion: Nyctophobia by Christopher Fowler (Meriah’s pick) Everyone Read!!!!
Ali: Spooky. Loved Callie’s research of the house history. 3.5/5 Jocelyn: Loved the descriptions about the architecture. 4/5 Tristana: Enjoyed. So much left unanswered though. 4/5 Maren: Thought there should be more rumors and town talk about the house. 3.5/5 Julie: Loved the ying yang aspects. Thought some parts were too wordy and some parts needed more description. 3/5 Meriah: Loved the aspect of facing our fears. Agreed that there was some great description and then some just dropped. 4/5

Announcements: Alyssa’s B-Day party was Awesome!!! Tristana went to Punk Rock Bowling and had an amazing time. Ali got book club tattoo. Looks Fantastic!! Drawing is available for us all. Decided to make new page limit 400pgs, unless approved for more. Updated our personal info forms again. Decided to put hold on beer steins, will move to wish list. Everyone still wants stickers. Meriah will research. Talked about moving Book Club start time to 5:00(because of summer work times). Is this happening next club??? Tristana still owes $30.00 to Julie for replacement glass.
Discussion: Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty (Julie’s pick) Maren didn’t finish Ali: Enjoyed book overall. Loved the gossipy interactions and inspector interviews mixed in throughout the book 4/5 Julie: Loved it! Related to the crazy parent school scene. Also related to the Jane/Ziggy dynamic. Was nervous we wouldn’t like it. 4.5/5 Jocelyn :Pleasantly surprised. Found many moments of laughs. Truly related to the Madeline/Ed marriage…that’s Mike and Joe. 3.5/5 Meriah: Enjoyed! Had to stay up to find out what happened. 4/5 Tristana: Liked book 4/5 Maren: Liked what she did read….4.5/5
