The Round House (Jocelyn’s Pick)
Discussion:
Julie- Didn’t like it in the beginning, to heartbreaking. Ended up really enjoying it. Wordy at times, but liked the grammar. Would recommend. 3.5/5
Jocelyn- I liked it. Learned a lot about living on a Reservation and the laws that apply. Loved that it was told through a 13-year-old boys point of view. Would recommend. 3.5/5
Ali- Yawning in the beginning, then became intrigued. Liked the 80’s descriptions. Loved the frienships. Felt educated. Would recommend. 3/5
Maren- Hard to get into. Lots of characters, but well written. Liked that the village fed everyone. Would recommend. 4/5
Meriah- DID NOT FINISH. WILL GET PIE TO THE FACE!!
Favorite Characters: Julie- Cappy and Mooshum Jocelyn- Father Travis and Cappy Ali- Cappy and Linda Maren- Linda, Aunt Clemance, and Grandma

Need to talk with Meriah about club. Used to try hard to be a part of things once a month. Need to figure out work schedule.

April 23, 2017 Book Club Notes
Circling the Sun (Meriah’s Pick)
Discussion:
Meriah- This was a last-minute pick, really liked it. Outside my comfort zone, not being my typical pick. Liked the main character’s sense of freedom. Would recommend to certain to people. 3.5/5
Ali- I didn’t like this book. I could fold and do my laundry with this in the background on my TV. I just didn’t like the main character, she was a hollow soul. Would not recommend. 3/5
Jocelyn- Historical Fiction is my favorite! Loved learning about Africa. I loved that Beryl stood up to society’s staunch ways. She was a true free spirit. Would recommend to certain people. 4/5
Maren- Liked in the beginning, but then it got slow. Wondered the whole time why none of the guys mentioned her scars. I thought it would end different. Interesting that everyone was poor, but still had servants. Would not recommend. 3.5/5
Julie- Hated it! This book could not keep my attention. I kept waiting for Deny’s to come out. Hated the deformed baby. Would not recommend. 2/5
Favorite Characters: Meriah- Kippi/Ruta Ali- Karen Jocelyn- Berkley Maren- Lady D and Cockie Julie- Bueller (dog) and Pegasus (horse)
“I’ve never travelled” I told her. “Oh, you absolutely should,” she insisted, “if only so that you can come home and really see it for what it is. That’s my favorite part.” -Karen

Baby Brunch this Saturday @ East End Eatery 11:00. We are registered at Baby’s R Us and Amazon. Meriah- Alyssa is turning 10. Bought a new car. Shannon turning 45. Going to Disneyland on June 23rd. Had a great Easter Party. Maren- Wants to be 40 and pregnant. Jocelyn- Mike and Cypress went to Comicon and had a blast. Cypress ramping up for Terrain racing. In the process of kicking Sotero out.
Discussion:

Emory’s Gift (Julie’s Pick)-March 26, 2017 Book Club Notes
Discussion: Maren- So much build up to get to the message. Cute but corny. Would recommend 4/5
Jocelyn- A sad tale told in a flowing style. Would not recommend. 3/5
Ali- It was sad. Very emotional. Dragged a bit, but could relate with losing a mother. Would not recommend. 3/5
Julie- Hokey. Expected more. Didn’t like the “man bear” aspect. Would recommend to certain people. 3/5
Meriah- Liked the book. Cute. Would recommend. 3/5
